HOUSTON, July 16, 2004 — Seyfarth Shaw LLP, a leading national full-service law firm, today announced that John L. Collins, 50, has been named Managing Partner of the Houston office.

Collins, who has been with the firm since graduating law school in 1980, represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, counseling and litigation with extensive experience in national class action defense litigation.  He also has experience representing employers in union organizing matters, collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, and labor injunction and related litigation.

 

Throughout his career, Collins has negotiated labor agreements in the service, trucking, metalworking, newspaper and printing industries, and has tried in excess of 150 labor arbitration cases in the meatpacking, petrochemical and public utilities industries, among others.  Collins obtained his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1980, and received his B.A. from Northeastern University with highest honors in 1977.
