IKON Success Noted in The American Lawyer "Big Suits" Column

The firm's successful wage and hour class action defense before a jury in CA for client IKON Office Solutions [Walsh et al. v. IKON Office Solutions, Inc.] was featured in the "Big Suits" column of the June 2006 American Lawyer. A jury in San Francisco superior court found that plaintiffs did not prove a class action claim for unpaid overtime penalties and compensation. "IKON's lawyers whittled away at the plaintiff's claims. In the biggest blow, Judge David Ballati decertified a class of sales representatives in January who were seeking $35 million in back pay. After extensive discovery, the judge ruled that these employees approached their jobs in such different ways that they could not be considered a distinct class." The IKON team was led by Gil Diekmann and Catherine Dacre with Eric Hill and Francis Ortman.
