Kelly Bufton Quoted in Illinois Real Estate Journal

The November issue of Illinois Real Estate Journal quotes Kelly Bufton in an article about the increasing need for qualified real estate attorneys (“Knowledgeable Real Estate Attorneys Wanted Now”). According to industry experts, the number of larger and more complex transactions and greater demand for real estate investments mean that today’s limited pool of good real estate lawyers must be able to manage both sophisticated finance structures and multi-property deals.

“J. Kelly Bufton, partner with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, says traditional small office shops just can’t compete today with firms that have national offices. ‘We’re definitely looking to hire more,’ Bufton says. ‘We’re expanding across the country, and in Chicago as well. Real estate is looking to be a significant part of a law firm’s proceeds these days.’ He says the growing pension fund investment and institutionalization of real estate offers opportunities for law firms.”
