Seyfarth Shaw Fortifies Construction Practice with Addition of Partner Leah A. Rochwarg

Boston, MA (August 24, 2005) - - Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full service law firms, today announced that Leah A. Rochwarg has joined the firm as partner in the Construction Practice Group.  She is resident in the firm’s Boston office.  Previously, Rochwarg was a partner in construction law at Gadsby Hannah LLP, a Boston-based firm.

Rochwarg’s practice focuses on the representation of owners and contractors involved in public and private construction projects in all aspects of construction law, arbitration and mediation.  She advises clients regarding design and construction services procurement, risk management, conflict avoidance and the negotiation and resolution of complex construction disputes, as well as the negotiation and drafting of design and construction agreements.  In addition, she counsels clients on issues related to bid protests and delays, mold-related liability, payment and performance and bond and insurance claims.  She has published dozens of articles relating to mold litigation, and is a frequent speaker on that and other construction topics.

“Leah’s extensive background in construction law is an asset to our team of nationally recognized attorneys,” stated Richard Preston, chair of the firm’s Construction Group.  “Her knowledge in this area allows us to offer greater depth of service to our clients and we are pleased that she has joined the firm.”

Seyfarth Shaw’s construction practice is one of the largest and most sophisticated in the country. The construction group has extensive experience in developing contract documents that are designed to preclude costly disputes as projects progress. The firm’s construction law attorneys have worked with professional societies, including the Design Build Institute of America and the Associated General Contractors of America, to develop standard form agreements for use by architects, regional general contractors, and material suppliers. On domestic and international projects, Seyfarth attorneys advise contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and public and private owners engaged in commercial, industrial, and government construction.

“The strength of the Boston office has increased significantly in the past few years,”  said Lisa Damon, managing partner of Seyfarth’s Boston office.  “The addition of Leah underscores the high level of counsel we provide our clients on a national level.”

Rochwarg received her B.S. cum laude from the University of Lowell, and her J.D. from the University of Miami Law School. She is admitted to the bars of MA, FL, and the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the District of MA, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

“I am delighted to be a part of Seyfarth Shaw and a member of its strong and growing presence in the Boston market,” said Rochwarg.
