SAN FRANCISCO (July 2, 2013) — Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that San Francisco office partner Laura Maechtlen was honored by the San Francisco AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP) with the James C. Hormel Philanthropist Award, presented to one person each year “in recognition of outstanding commitment, generosity and leadership in supporting the work of ALRP.” She was also recently elected to the board of Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal nonprofit committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of the LGBT community and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
The ALRP provides free and low cost legal services to people living with HIV/Aids in the Bay Area Community. A longtime champion for the ALRP, Maechtlen previously served as a board member, and since 2006, assisted with Seyfarth’s involvement with the organization, including its pro bono partners initiative (which refers pro bono cases to Seyfarth) and the firm’s yearly sponsorship of the ALRP’s annual event.
