Brett Bartlett was quoted in a December 1 story “Overtime Rule Hang-Up Requires Careful Communication About Pay Decisions” by SHRM on how scrupulously tailored messages can help avoid litigation. Bartlett said that employees might sue on the basis that previous communications created a contractual obligation.
