Joan Casciari was quoted in a September 5 story from SHRM, "Supervisors Overrode HR-Approved Accommodations for Obese Worker," on how obesity is covered by the ADA if it results from an underlying medical condition. Casciari said that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has taken the position that obesity by itself—whether caused by an underlying medical condition or not—can be an ADA-covered disability.
