Pamela Devata was quoted in a January 28 story “‘‘BAN THE BOX’ MIGHT NOT BOTHER EMPLOYERS BUT EEOC GUIDANCE DOES” from Bloomberg BNA on the recent attention in Washington to the criminal justice reform effort to “ban the box,” or delay questions about a job applicant’s criminal background until the person has been conditionally offered a job. Devata said that you already have a federal agency who is espousing ban the box and has given pretty detailed guidelines about what employers should be doing if they don’t want to get an EEOC pattern or practice charge or investigation.
