Shawn Wood is a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and serves as national chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group.  He has 19 years of experience representing companies and individuals in commercial litigation and disputes among business owners.  Shawn also serves as national counsel for an affiliated group of appliance manufacturers in connection with their commercial and product liability litigation.  

Shawn is a member of the Federal Trial Bar in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  He has successfully tried cases to verdict in federal and state courts in Illinois and Iowa, and has argued as lead counsel before the United States Fifth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the Illinois First District Appellate Court. 

Over the past nineteen years, Shawn has published and presented on a wide range of topics relevant to civil practice, commercial litigation and product liability.  He co-authors the ISBA Civil Practice Handbook chapter regarding motion practice and serves as an annual presenter at the ISBA Civil Practice Conference.  He has also addressed the Chicago International Trade Commissioners’ Association regarding “Legal Responsibility For Product Defects In The United States.”  Shawn serves by appointment on the Civil Practice Council of the Illinois State Bar Association and as ISBA liaison to the Seventh Circuit E-Discovery Pilot Program Committee.   He is also a featured columnist in Chicago Lawyer magazine and a recipient of its Annual Writing Award.   He has been honored by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as one of its “40 under 40 Attorneys To Watch” and as an Illinois Leading Lawyer in appellate practice and commercial litigation.
