Today the Mayor’s office released the template notices that employers (available here) and staffing agencies (available here) must provide to new hires and incumbent employees under the D.C. Wage Theft Prevention Act.  At this time, there are several issues with the template notices, including typographical errors.  Although these issues may be resolved prior to the May 27 deadline for existing employees to receive the notice, according to the Mayor’s office’s interpretation of the Act (available here), as of today, all new employees must receive the notice at time of hire.  As such, despite the issues, employers should take immediate steps to comply with the notice requirement for all new hires and contact your Seyfarth Shaw attorney if you have any questions regarding how to complete the notice.
