Seyfarth Shaw lawyers were recognized for “Excellence in Pro Bono Service” at The United States District Court’s Nineteenth Annual Awards for Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service. These awards honor attorneys for their contributions in helping people most in need of assistance before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Based in the firm’s Chicago office, Seyfarth Labor and Employment lawyers Gary Kaplan, Samuel Schwartz-Fenwick, and Andrew Cockroft received the award for “Excellence in Pro Bono Service” in a prisoner civil rights case alleging denial of medical care following a severe head injury. Over the course of just two years, the Seyfarth team successfully obtained two favorable settlements (one on appeal), obtaining monetary relief for the client.

The annual ceremony recognizing pro bono and public interest service before the Court is sponsored jointly by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. You can read more here.
