When Parsons Engineering, the multi-billion dollar global defense and infrastructure company, decided to undertake its largest real estate transaction in company history, by selling and leasing back its world headquarters, the CEO and CFO turned to Dana Treister to structure and carry out this historic transaction (which was the largest real estate transaction in Los Angeles County, the year it closed).  Dana is a Partner in the Real Estate department.  For more than twenty years, he has been advising developers, investors, funds, and public companies on real estate transactions across nearly all 50 states.  His experience spans all aspects of real estate, with a particular emphasis on the acquisition and sale of commercial properties, real estate finance, formation of joint ventures, tax-advantaged structuring, and complex ground lease transactions. He has recently counseled clients in connection with a variety of development projects, ranging from historic rehabs to ground-up construction, especially in the hospitality area.  In recent years, Dana has represented both borrowers and lenders in both on-balance sheet and conduit loan transactions, and has coordinated the defeasance, re-financing and restructuring of existing debt instruments.  Dana is also recognized for his experience in advising company boards, and in recent years has represented a number of Southern California’s largest hospitals and retail companies in connection with their real estate holdings.
