Jinouth Vasquez Santos is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department and Cannabis Group in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She represents clients in a wide array of industries and has extensive experience in cases involving wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and discrimination.

Ms. Vasquez also represents employers in high exposure wage-and-hour class actions involving misclassification and joint employment claims. Ms. Vasquez has obtained full defense judgments in joint employer actions and obtained dismissals of claims involving joint employment. Ms. Vasquez has also creatively and successfully briefed summary judgment motions, motions to dismiss, demurrers, motions to compel, and removals. Ms. Vasquez also argued several motions in court, including motions to dismiss, demurrers, and motions to compel.

Ms. Vasquez’s background also includes arguing bench trials before California courts, which have resulted in defense verdicts.  Ms. Vasquez also has significant experience in trial preparation, including overall strategy, preparing witnesses, conducting direct and cross examination, preparing trial documents, including, motions in limine, pocket briefs, jury instructions, and special verdict forms.

Ms. Vasquez is also a member of the firm's Cannabis team where she helps Cannabis businesses comply with state and local ordinances, and prepares Labor Peace Agreements with unions. Ms. Vasquez also assists Cannabis companies with investigations, wage and hour compliance, and establishing policies.  Ms. Vasquez also advises employers and cannabis companies on drug testing, accommodations, terminations, and on whistleblower claims pertaining to cannabis.

Ms. Vasquez also represents retail clients in trespassing matters involving free speech, public and quasi-public forum issues, and SLAPP suits. Ms. Vasquez has obtained TRO’s and permanent injunctions against petitioners who trespass on private property despite arguments that the property is a quasi-public forum.
