Charitable Giving
The Seyfarth Shaw Charitable Foundation makes grants that support our attorneys and staff in their charitable activities.
All Seyfarthians are welcome and encouraged to request funds from the foundation on behalf of a specific organization.
The mission of the Seyfarth Shaw Charitable Foundation is to improve the quality of life in our communities, and to encourage and support the charitable efforts of our people by contributing to the charitable organizations in which they personally participate. (Please note that our foundation does not accept solicitations for grants from outside the firm.)
The twin priorities of our charitable giving program are our “flagship” charities and our legal aid partners. First, our flagship charities are those selected by the people in each office based on a cause that is meaningful to them. They often involve large-scale events in which everyone in the office, including family and friends, can participate. Second, as a member of the legal community, we feel a special obligation to give back to the legal aid organizations who provide direct legal services to those in need and who provide referrals, training, and support for our lawyers. We prioritize the agencies that we work with most closely.
In addition to the firm’s contributions, the individuals in our offices often engage in extraordinary fundraising efforts for our flagship and other charities. They walk, run, and ride bikes; they sell homemade baked goods and handmade arts and crafts; they donate or secure raffle items; and they come up with creative auction items (one partner cut his long hair, another grew his hair into a mullet, another cleaned out the highest bidder’s garage). We are proud of the amazing creativity and contributions of our colleagues!
