For the first time in seven years, both the House and the Senate is controlled by the Republican Party. Although this development will all but eliminate President Obama’s legislative agenda, his Administration has already shown that they are willing and able to use all of the tools at the disposal of the Executive Branch. The divided government is certain to bring employers an interesting — and uncertain — couple of years.

Join members of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Government Agency Insights and Strategies Team, as they discuss what employers can expect to see from Washington in 2015.

This team, made up of former high-level government officials with extensive experience with the regulatory and legislative environment affecting employers, will share their insights on a number of issues, including:

  • What labor-and-employment-related legislation and/or other actions will the new Congress take up?
  • What impact will the confirmation of the fifth member of the National Labor Relations Board have on the Board’s decisions in the areas of social media, arbitration clauses, and employee handbooks?
  • Will the fully-constituted Equal Employment Opportunity Commission attempt to reconcile the apparent inconsistency between its position on wellness plans and the Affordable Care Act?  How might the EEOC approach the issues of reasonable accommodations, credit background checks and more?
  • What will be contained in the U.S. Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division’s proposed rulemaking on overtime exemptions?  And what other regulatory initiatives are we likely to see out of DOL?
  • Review pending OFCCP regulations regarding compensation and pending blacklisting policies.
