Do you have employees who perform work in the landscaping and construction industries? Are you aware of how to properly classify independent contractors versus employees under this new law?
With the passage of the Workplace Fraud Act of 2009, the state of Maryland promises to crack down on employers in the construction and landscaping fields who wrongly classify their workers as independent contractors rather than employees or do not classify them at all. The Act makes it a violation of law to fail to properly classify workers as employees, and it imposes penalties on those employers who knowingly misclassify their workers.
Please join Seyfarth Shaw attorneys for an informative briefing on how you can determine whether your employees are properly classified as employees or independent contractors.
Who Should Attend:
In-house counsel, human resources personnel and those who decide how employees are classified.
