In our first webinar, our team discussed what to do to identify and protect your company’s trade secrets from misappropriation. In our second webinar, our team discussed steps your company can take to assess potential problems upon an employee’s departure and how to prepare to litigate to protect company information. The third webinar will focus on the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), a federal statute that has been used for almost a decade to obtain injunctive relief against, and impose liability on, employees who steal or interfere with a company’s electronic information.

The third of our series of informative discussions will cover what employers need to know about the CFAA and its potential uses in protecting electronic assets. Our team will discuss:

  • What is required to prove a CFAA claim and the differing views of federal courts regarding certain CFAA elements;
  • The pros and cons of bringing a CFAA claim;
  • How to gather computer forensic evidence to support a CFAA claim; and
  • State law statutes that are similar to the CFAA.
