Recreational marijuana will be coming to Illinois on January 1, 2020.  With ten states’ experience to draw upon, we anticipate increased marijuana use and additional workplace impairments, which could result in safety hazards, near misses, and accidents if not properly managed.  The poorly drafted Illinois law protects employers’ rights to prohibit marijuana possession and use at the workplace, but nevertheless creates potential liabilities for employers who enforce existing policies and employ common drug testing methods.  Employers will need to revise their policies and procedures to ensure that safety-sensitive employees are not impaired in the workplace.  The webinar will provide practical advice on how best to address marijuana and drugs in this new High Times 2020 environment.
