Millennials will soon comprise the majority of the U.S. workforce.  This, combined with advances in technology and the rise of the gig economy, is changing how work is performed, how individuals communicate with each other, and what workers care about most.  These developments have far-reaching impacts on labor relations for both union and non-union employers.  Join us as we discuss these issues and the practical considerations employers can and should be focusing on in both the near- and long-term, including:

  • How automation, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, wearable devices, and other technological advances are changing the game for employers and what to expect going forward;
  • How differences in workplace culture created by the rise of the gig economy and Millennial ideals may impact union organizing and collective bargaining strategies;
  • Ways in which organized labor’s increasing use of social media, text messaging, and other technology may take employers by surprise and how to prepare.
