 This program will discuss the do's and don'ts of managing employee absences and will provide a checklist for employers on how to analyze and respond to leave of absence requests, including discussing:

  • Company vacation and attendance polices.
  • Employer obligations under the FMLA and ADA.
  • Which employees are covered, what conditions are covered, and what medical certifications you can require.
  • When an employer can obtain a medical examination, and what accommodations are required.
  • Problems with intermittent leave, long term absences, requests for work schedule changes and telecommuting.
  • The new military leave requirements, and special statutes like DC FMLA, DC paid leave, and Maryland's special leave laws
