CHICAGO (March 1, 2013) - Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that Litigation Department partner Jason DeJonker was recently selected to the 2013-2014 class of  Fellows of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

The LCLD Fellows program was developed to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession through a dynamic, year-long leadership training course designed to elevate career paths of high-potential attorneys. DeJonker continues the firm’s legacy of participation in the program, following in the footsteps of New York office partner James Yu, who served as a fellow for the 2012 class, and San Francisco partner Laura Maechtlen, who was a member of the LCLD Fellow inaugural class in 2011.

In addition to his legal practice, DeJonker is an active leader of the Seyfarth’s Diversity Action Team, including as co-chair of the Asian Affinity Group, and sits on the firm’s Lawyer Development Committee, which is responsible for evaluation and mentoring of the firm’s associates. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms, an organization in which Seyfarth is a member. DeJonker is also active in NAPABA (National Asian Pacific Bar Association) and NASABA (North American South Asian Bar Association) events and coordinating the participation by the firm.

According to LCLD Executive Director Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”

Founded in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is a growing organization of more than 200 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession.
