HOUSTON (March 12, 2013) - Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today that Houston office Labor &Employment partner and Sugar Land resident Linda Schoonmaker was honored with the Texas Women Lawyers’ Pathfinder Award 2013. Texas Women Lawyers is an organization committed to the empowerment of women lawyers to achieve full rights, privileges and responsibilities in the legal profession.
Lauded for making “a difference every day and in all the ways that count for the success of those around her,” Schoonmaker was praised for her tireless work to include and promote women in the firm, her practice and the community, and her roles as a member and leader in Seyfarth’s Women’s National Leadership Team, Seyfarth Women’s Network. Numerous board appointments for the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, Fort Bend Regional Council on Substance Abuse, Achieve Fort Bend County and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land, among others, added to her “pathfinder” designation.
Schoonmaker, a 1988 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, was honored at the Texas Women Lawyers annual meeting. Previous winners include Justice Eva Guzman, the first Latina appointed and elected to the Supreme Court of Texas and Louise Raggio, the first assistant district attorney in Dallas County and the driver behind legislation to grant married women equal property ownership rights in Texas.
