Andy uses practical experience and skills honed while working in-house to craft creative legal solutions and manage employment-related risks.
More About Andrew
Andy guides employers through the life cycle of an employee—from recruiting and onboarding, to performance management and discipline, and through separation. He provides practical legal advice to employers on risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. Understanding that there is no one way to solve workplace issues, he approaches each problem with his clients’ goals and business objectives top of mind.
Prior to joining Seyfarth, Andy spent nearly a decade in-house gaining unparalleled experience as employment counsel. In this role, Andy provided legal advice and day-to-day support to various teams on a broad range of employment matters, including performance management, employee discipline and separation, workplace investigations, leaves of absence and accommodations, recruiting and hiring, benefits, wage and hour compliance, labor relations, and unemployment and workers’ compensation. During his tenure, Andy also led a human resources compliance team, giving him insight into how careful and strategic implementation and application of HR policies and processes can prevent legal problems before they arise. His time in HR also gave him an appreciation for and innate understanding of the partnership between employment legal counsel and HR professionals.
Although his in-house experience informs him that litigation is rarely a company’s favored solution to a problem, Andy knows that it is sometimes unavoidable. Andy has extensive experience litigating employment matters on behalf of clients in the health care, retail, manufacturing, and technology industries, including wage and hour class actions, single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, disability, and wrongful termination matters. He also has handled numerous OFCCP audits and conducted many compensation equity reviews.
Andy knows every client has unique goals, an individual culture, and business and cultural objectives that involve more than purely legal concerns. His thoughtful approach takes this into account along with the rapidly changing landscape of employment law, allowing him to take a holistic approach to clients’ individualized needs and perspectives.
