Steve is a tax and business lawyer with broad experience in designing and implementing real estate capital markets and M&A transactions. Clients appreciate his ability to apply cutting-edge tax law knowledge to real estate and corporate deals in a grounded, common-sense manner.
Highly skilled at developing alternative real estate investment structures of all types, Steve works extensively with Qualified Opportunity Funds, REITs, investment funds, and complex like-kind exchange programs such as Delaware Statutory Trust investment programs. He also serves as general tax and business counsel to businesses and entrepreneurs, advising on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and dispositions to strategic and financial acquirers. Known for a deep investment in understanding each client’s business, Steve offers sophisticated legal counsel and the ability to navigate complex matters with confidence and precision.
Steve, who is chair emeritus of Seyfarth's Corporate department, is recognized by The Legal 500 (Legalese Ltd.) (2014-2024) and Best Lawyers (2022-2025) as a thought leader in tax structuring of investment programs for the real estate capital markets industry.
