Since its opening in 1984, the San Francisco office has grown into a full-service office practicing throughout California. Its robust Labor and Employment practice includes litigation of class and individual employment actions, including wage-and-hour, pay equity, discrimination and harassment, workplace safety, complex discrimination, ERISA & employee benefits, and general counseling. San Francisco’s Litigation practice has extensive expertise in construction, government contracts, mass torts, commercial class actions, product liability, health care fraud, and electronic discovery and information governance. The Real Estate group in San Francisco continues to grow, with a broad practice including acquisition/development work, lending, and leasing.

We serve clients of all sizes and from various industries, ranging from high-profile nonprofit organizations to the largest public and private corporations in the world. Our clients benefit from our close collaboration with our national offices to provide a broad perspective in various industries, including technology, health care, financial services, multi-employer benefits plans, retail and hospitality, manufacturing, the arts, and real estate.

RECOGNITION

An impressive number of practitioners in the San Francisco office are recognized leaders in their areas by Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers. Our attorneys are recognized as thought leaders, often quoted in professional and industry publications, and regularly speak at legal and industry conferences. Our diverse professional backgrounds include judicial clerkships and externships, and stints in finance and accounting, the entertainment industry, the military, and education. San Francisco is also proud to be recognizedalongside our three other California officesby the California Minority Counsel Program as "Most Outstanding Majority-Owned Firm 2019."

CULTURE

While embracing the firm’s culture of teamwork and collaboration, the San Francisco office also embraces some of the ethos of the Bay Area: a passionate commitment to diversity and inclusion, and an ear to the ground for emerging industries and networking opportunities.

We are actively involved in providing pro bono legal services, supporting civic and bar events, volunteering, maintaining close ties with local and national minority bar associations, and raising money for numerous causes. The office regularly partners in pro bono work with the San Francisco Bar Association, the Justice & Diversity Center, Rubicon, Kids in Need of Defense, and Swords to Plowshares.

While the San Francisco offices support many local and national charities, its annual fundraising calendar anchors much of its fundraising around Best Buddies International, AIDS Walk San Francisco, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Additionally, the office sponsors and hosts an intern from the All Stars Project of the San Francisco Bay Area every summer.

SETTING

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s central business district, the office is in proximity to both state and federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit and the California Supreme Court. The neighborhood is home to both emerging and well-established companies in many industries, a vibrant restaurant scene, and manifold public transportation options.

In 2019, the office is undertaking an ambitious remodel to create state-of-the-art conference room facilities, a welcoming reception area, and innovatively outfitted collaborative spaces for our clients, attorneys, and professional staff.
