The Melbourne office has represented leading organisations on high-profile disputes, and advised top employers on workforce strategy development and high-stakes health and safety matters.

Since its opening in 2013 alongside the Sydney office, Melbourne has continued to grow its national and international client base due to its recognised expertise and outcomes for its clients in employment, workplace relations, and work health and safety law.

RECOGNITION

The Melbourne office is a welcoming, collaborative, and exciting place to work. Embracing a “no sheep” approach, the office continually looks for better ways to stand out from the flock. Our team members are recognised leaders in their fields, who are repeatedly highlighted in Chambers Asia Pacific and The Legal 500 as top practitioners. Our national practice has been ranked First Tier by Doyles Guide.

CULTURE

We are committed to playing an active role in our communities through charitable giving and pro bono legal work. Our team participates in the Fair Work Commission’s pro bono program, where we assist self-represented applicants addressing jurisdictional objections made to their applications. We take part in a wide variety of events to raise money for charity, including Biggest Morning Tea, the Girl Up Global 5K, and Oxfam Trailwalker.

SETTING

Famous for its vibrant laneways, rich cultural scene, and plethora of sporting events, it’s easy to see why Melbourne is considered one of the most livable cities in the world. Our Melbourne office is located on the “Paris end” of Collins Street, in the heart of the central business district. We have great coffee shops, top restaurants, historic buildings, and elegant parkland all within easy reach. If all that gets too much, our staff can take a moment to relax in our meditation room.

Our modern conference facilities allow us to collaborate with clients on the opportunities, as well as the issues affecting their business. We pride ourselves on our open and collaborative team culture, which is underpinned by our meeting spaces. These areas allow staff to come together, share ideas, and develop the best solutions for our clients.

Our Australian practice operates as Seyfarth Shaw Australia, an Australian multidisciplinary partnership affiliated with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, a limited liability partnership established in Illinois, USA. Legal services provided by Seyfarth Shaw Australia are provided only by the Australian legal practitioner partners and employees of Seyfarth Shaw Australia.
