Seyfarth Shaw was featured and California Labor & Employment Chair Kenneth Sulzer was extensively quoted in an August 24 Law360 article regarding an uptick in the hiring of California employment law associates. According to the article, the increase is due to an upswing in the number of wage and hour class actions and other work-related litigation against major companies.

“The work keeps coming in,” reported Ken. “As the economy continues to struggle some, business tends to pick up because there’s more activity — more issues with unions, more litigation, more layoffs and reductions in force.”

Ken noted that Seyfarth has experienced a surge in wage and hour litigation over the last year. “Our wage-and-hour class action practice is increasing, and it has been a very substantial part of our practice for at least a decade,” he explained. “A lot of times there are between five and 10 wage and hour class actions filed in California a day. They are not necessarily huge and sometimes they are add-ons, but it’s a good number.”
