CHICAGO (May 8, 2015) – Lawyers at Seyfarth Shaw LLP played an instrumental role in supporting the development of the Theodore J. St. Antoine Collegiate Professorship at the University of Michigan Law School. Led by Seyfarth partners Camille Olson and Ray Kepner, more than two dozen Michigan Law alumni working at Seyfarth made gifts totaling more than $250,000 to establish the St. Antoine Collegiate Professorship. Significant contributions to the effort were also made by Seyfarth partners Bill Dritsas, Diane Dygert, Brad Livingston, Rob Whitman and Ken Youmans.

According to Law Quadrangle, a magazine for Michigan Law alumni, St. Antoine joined the Michigan Law faculty in 1965 and served as dean from 1971 to 1978. St. Antoine is considered one of the preeminent scholars in the field of labor and industrial relations and is coauthor of one of the most successful and respected labor law casebooks, Labor Relations Law: Cases and Materials.

“What made Ted special was that he conveyed in real terms how all the issues we discussed in class affected individuals in all sectors of society. He showed how far-reaching our impact could be if we pursued careers in employment law,” Olson explained to the magazine. “Wherever my work takes me, if Michigan Law comes up, someone always mentions the Saint. People on all sides of the table respect him greatly, which is a rare gift.”

“I’ve seen Ted’s lasting impact on his students and in our profession,” said Olson. “This was a way to formally recognize all that he has given us.”
