About the Program

With 2023 coming to a close, it is time to check-in on the end of year and be ready to diagnose what 2024 may bring.

Join us for our Q4 Breakfast Briefing on December 5. The employment areas we will examine are as follows:

  • The Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act | New and expansive interpretations of what is “genetic information” have set off a tidal wave of challenges to the ways that companies collect, use, maintain, and disclose data. Illinois businesses must become familiar with these new claims under GIPA in order to avoid violations that could include steep damages and/or class action lawsuits.
  • Artificial Intelligence and the Workplace | AI is already all around us. As businesses explore more ways to use AI, government regulators are paying more attention. What do employers need to know about President Biden's recent Executive Order on AI, and how the federal government is now thinking about managing AI risks and civil-rights enforcement actions involving AI?
  • Day and Temporary Labor Services Act | Amendments to this law went into effect in August 2023 and created immediate new obligations on staffing companies and businesses that use temporary labor, private enforcement, and increased penalties. And 2024 will see temporary workers entitled to “equal pay and benefits” as direct employees.
  • Chicago’s Fair Work Week Ordinance | Chicago workers in certain industries have received new protections around scheduling. Covered employers risk steep penalties if their policies and practices do not comply.
  • Update on Illinois Pay Transparency Law | Beginning in 2025, this law will require employers to include pay ranges on job postings. It may be time to review job postings to ensure compliance.
