People: Katherine Mendez, Associate
Biography
Ms. Mendez is an associate with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where she is a member of the Labor and Employment Department in Chicago and the Hospitality Practice Group. Ms. Mendez represents employers throughout the country in a range of employment law matters. Her work has included the representation of Fortune 500 companies, as well as medium and small sized employers. Ms. Mendez's primary focus is litigation and she has experience representing employers in both federal and state courts, and before federal and state government agencies such as the EEOC and the IDHR. Additionally, Ms. Mendez counsels management and human resources professionals on various workplace issues.
Ms. Mendez has represented employers in class actions, multi-plaintiff, and single-plaintiff cases involving discrimination on the basis of disability, age, sex, sex harassment, race, national origin, and other protected classifications filed under various federal and state statutes, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, The Family and Medical Leave Act, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, The Fair Labor Standards Act, The Illinois Human Rights Act, and The Elliot Larsen Civil Rights Act.
Ms. Mendez is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chicago Kent of Law.
