Joel’s firsthand knowledge as a DOL investigator, time at the Employee Benefits Security Administration, proficiency in public policy, and comprehensive knowledge of ERISA help him seamlessly navigate clients through any and all employee benefits matters. Joel’s combined range of institutional knowledge and professional experiences helps provide clients with comprehensive solutions and nuanced insights.

Having worked for both the EBSA and on behalf of union side clients, Joel is uniquely positioned to meet and exceed client’s needs. By drawing on his spectrum of experiences, he provides answers efficiently while also ensuring his clients are asking the right questions. Joel’s LLM in Tax allows him to comfortably navigate the Code and ERISA statutes and regulations.

Joel remains at the forefront of all changes in ERISA by utilizing all tools, technology, and resources available to remain informed in order to provide his clients with the most up-to-date and comprehensive information and advice. By taking these steps, Joel and the Employee Benefits group are able to provide guidance and make proactive recommendations to clients to avoid issues which may affect their plans. Joel believes that Employee Benefits has a wide and impactful reach on many individuals' lives. The workforce behind a private employer will receive employer provided benefits or a pension plan, and will subsequently be faced with questions on how to proceed when institutional policy changes are made. Joel takes pride in being a part of the group that is able to provide these answers. This area of law silently touches so many lives, and Joel thoroughly enjoys working in a capacity which enables best practices in helping clients protect their benefits, policies, and employees.
