Seyfarth Shaw Boston office partner Andrew Pearlstein was profiled and quoted in Banker & Tradesman on August 14. The article, written in Q&A format, discussed Andrew's work in the firm's Corporate Department dealing with capital markets and New York-based real estate funds, and it listed some fun facts about him outside of his legal practice.

Andrew was asked about the current state of commercial-mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) markets, the toughest parts of making these transactions go smoothly, and what interests him about a practice focused on capital markets.

Andrew sited the U.S. economy's slow growth, unemployment and the economic crisis in Europe as factors contributing to the CMBS market's delay in bouncing back. He said in order to facilitate smooth transactions, he's "had to spend a lot of time learning capital markets and how bonds trade and what's important to the buyers."

In response to what interests him, Andrew said, "I like deals. I like understanding how to manipulate all the pieces and making sure all the parties work together to get a transaction closed. There's an art and a skill to getting all the right people in the right place to say the right things…my focus as a transactional lawyer is to use good business judgment and common sense."
