Angelo Paparelli appeared on The Hugh Hewitt Radio Show on May 20, 2009 where he discussed "Health Care Vis-à-vis Illegal Immigrants." During his interview, Angelo discussed how healthcare reform will affect illegal immigrants. He noted that it will not have any change until ten-plus years after any immigration reform is enacted since the country's 12-20 million illegal immigrants are not entitled to standard healthcare outside of emergency care. He also discussed the notion that it may be in Americans' best interests to consider extending healthcare to all immigrants. This is particularly evident, Angelo noted, in terms of protecting the population against infectious diseases, such as the swine flu. As Angelo commented, "The swine flu has no ability to check one's immigration papers." Angelo also briefly discussed recent issues involving R-1 (religious) visas. He mentioned that concern over abuse of R-1 visas could be interfering with religious freedom and hurting legitimate religious workers. The interview ended with a prediction by Angelo that comprehensive immigration reform will be mapped out during the last quarter of 2009 and be enacted in 2010.
