Angelo Paparelli Quoted in Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals
“Obama Administration Deports Record Number of Illegal Immigrants”

Seyfarth Immigration partner Angelo Paparelli was recently quoted in an article published in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals. The article reported on the Obama administration’s record-setting number of deportations in fiscal 2011. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, nearly 400,000 people who were in the country illegally were deported. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is also demanding that states participate in the Secure Communities program, which grants federal authorities access to the immigration status of people arrested by local police. Angelo remarked that the record-setting deportation numbers in 2011 “underscore that Secure Communities is overkill.”
