Angelo Paparelli Quoted in the Los Angeles Daily Journal
"Senators Debut Business Visa Plan"
Angelo Paparelli was quoted in the February 25, 2010 article, "Senators Debut Business Visa Plan," published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. The article discussed a new bill which would make it easier for foreign entrepreneurs to obtain visas in exchange for creating jobs in the United States. This program is similar to EB-5, a special visa that allows wealthy immigrants to speed up the process of obtaining a green card through investment. According to the article, currently, foreign investors can obtain green cards through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, which remains chronically under-used, with the majority of the available 10,000 visas going unfilled each year. Angelo noted that he liked the idea of the bill, but expressed concern about how federal officials would oversee the program. He remarked, "I fear it will be plagued by some of the same problems we have seen with the EB-5 program." Angelo pointed out that many foreign investors complained their applications were denied for obscure reasons, and they often faced long delays in getting a green card.
