Angelo Paparelli’s Firm Joining Seyfarth Shaw's Business Immigration Practice Group Featured in The National Law Journal, Los Angeles Daily Journal and Employment Law360 January 8, 2009
The announcement that Angelo Paparelli's renowned immigration firm joined Seyfarth Shaw's Business Immigration Practice Group was featured in The National Law Journal, Los Angeles Daily Journal and Employment Law360 on January 8, 2009.
The National Law Journal reported that the addition of Paparelli & Partners will expand Seyfarth's labor and employment business immigration practice group with the new team of eight attorneys and nine staffers. The article noted that Angelo joined the firm as partner and Susan Wehrer came on as of counsel. The other lawyers who joined are Debi Gloria, Kwang-Yi Ger Gale, Karen Gatbonton, Elise Tsai, Lily Hensel and Elizabeth Wheeler.
The Los Angeles Daily Journal quoted Angelo Paparelli as saying that "Part of my motivation was I saw immigration law and labor and employment law coming together in many settings. I wanted to make sure I gave harmonized advice to my clients." The article also provided a quote from Valerie Hoffman, chair of the firm's Business Immigration and Affirmation Action & Diversity Consulting Practice Group, who explained that "With Angelo's group, we now have a world-class group on the West Coast who can meet our clients' needs in that time zone. In addition, Angelo's national reputation and prominence in the field brings us a high-level notice." As noted in the article, most of the newly hired group will continue to work from Irvine, while Angelo will be based in Seyfarth's LA office, spending half of his time in New York.
Employment Law360 wrote that the addition doubles the size of Seyfarth's business immigration practice. Angelo provided reasoning behind the move by explaining that "Today, what I'm seeing are clients who are looking for a breadth and depth of bench that allow for deployment of substantial resources on whatever problems come their way." He added that the firm already has a large client base for immigration benefits work and broad expertise in immigration-related labor and employment areas. Angelo further explained that his group would bring Seyfarth a strong background in strategic advising, corporate restructuring and complex immigration matters involving high-worth individuals and companies.
