Blake Hornick and Arren Goldman's article, "The End of the Reagan Era of Deregulation and Worship of the Free Market," was published in the December 30, 2008 issue of Andrews Publications' Securities Litigation and Regulation Reporter and the January 2009 Financial Crisis Special Report. In their article, the authors review the history of financial deregulation and predict an era of mandated restraint in the U.S. banking system. Blake and Arren predict that "The year 2008 may very well prove to be a watershed year for the global financial system, one marking the beginning of a virtual revolution of interplay among government business and the individual." In their article, they trace some of the financial and deregulatory trends of the Age of Reagan and how they may have led to the current economic crisis, especially in credit markets. In addition, the authors provide some educated speculation regarding changes in the legal, regulatory and political environment that may occur in the "Age of Obama" that will commence January 20, 2009.
