Brenda Radmacher, a partner in the Construction practice, will be a featured speaker at an upcoming webinar hosted by the Construction Subsection of the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association titled “California’s SB 440 and Its New Mediation Mandate – Are You Ready?”.

Program Description

The program will examine the impact of California Senate Bill 440 and its newly established mediation framework governing claims between contractors and subcontractors. The legislation introduces a structured mediation process with specific statutory timelines and procedural requirements that construction counsel must carefully navigate.

Panelists will discuss how SB 440 reshapes dispute resolution strategy for construction stakeholders, including key compliance considerations, potential risk areas, and the importance of early mediator selection in influencing leverage and outcomes. The discussion will also explore how the statute’s mediation mandate can be integrated with other dispute resolution mechanisms and how experienced construction neutrals can help parties reach efficient and effective resolutions.

Brenda will be joined by Michael Powell, Vice President of the Construction Division of the American Arbitration Association® and manager of the Los Angeles Regional Office. The webinar will offer practical insights for owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, and construction counsel navigating the new statutory landscape created by SB 440.
