Dan McRae Quoted in Fulton County Daily Report
"'Private City' Plan May Create New Legal Work"
Dan McRae was quoted in the article, "'Private City' Plan May Create New Legal Work," published in the August 27, 2008 issue of the Fulton County Daily Report. The article reported on the proposed infrastructure development districts (IDDs) in Georgia, which would allow private developers to access taxes and issue tax-free bonds to build water and sewer lines, schoolhouses, roads and fire stations.
Dan remarked that if IDDs are approved by voters, there are plenty of projects that local governments will want to tackle to keep up with Georgia's rapidly growing population. These new projects would mean a wealth of opportunities for law firms in a wide range of legal practice areas: public finance, real estate, capital markets, tax, environmental, land use and zoning, among others. Dan further noted, “It's like any other development. Any time you set out to do something of that magnitude, you're going to need all those disciplines.” Law firms will be hired by both private development companies and local governments to offer advice on the new law, he concluded.
