Daniel J. Schwartz Joins Seyfarth Shaw’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Chicago Office
Chicago, IL (January 26, 2010)—Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, today announced that Daniel J. Schwartz has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He was previously at Jenner & Block LLP.
Schwartz’s practice primarily focuses on the areas of intellectual property litigation and counseling. He concentrates on patent, trade secrets and trademark litigation. He has worked on patent litigation representing some of the world’s largest industrial, medical products and telecommunications companies. Schwartz’s recent experience includes various forms of Markman hearings and intellectual property preliminary injunction matters. He has also represented clients in trade secrets litigation and trademark litigation, both in federal district court and before the Patent and Trademark Office.
Schwartz also counsels clients regarding intellectual property portfolio management. He has served as the intellectual property portfolio manager for a Fortune 150 defense contractor in developing and administering its patent, trademark and trade secret strategy. He also structures and negotiates intellectual property licenses, joint ventures and technology “know-how” agreements.

Schwartz earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and his J.D. from Northwestern University Law School, where he served as an editor of the Journal of International Law and Business. He has co-taught a course in intellectual property litigation at Loyola University Law School in Chicago. He is admitted to the Illinois bar.
