David Bizar was quoted in an August 16 story “CFPB winds down summer with flurry of rulemaking” from Compliance Week on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finally moving forward with proposed rules regarding debt collection that have been gestating since 2013. Bizar said that the CFPB’s proposed debt collection rules will, if adopted, overly burden if not outright hobble the legitimate collection of defaulted consumer debts, resulting in less available credit and higher credit costs for everyone.
