David Bizar was quoted in a July 28 story “Debt collectors could face new limits on calls” from USA Today on how third-party debt collectors would be limited to up to six tries each week before a consumer is actually reached, according to proposals under consideration by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Bizar said that the CFPB’s proposed debt collection rules will, if adopted, overly burden if not outright hobble the legitimate collection of defaulted consumer debts.
