On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Dawn Lurie and John Mazzeo of Seyfarth’s Immigration practice presented at the Institute for Workplace Equality’s Annual Summit, which was hosted by Seyfarth’s Washington, DC office. The program, titled “ICE Audits, Raids, and Investigations: What Leaders Need to Know to Protect Their Organizations,” addressed how employers can prepare for—and mitigate the risk of—ICE raids, as well as best practices for overall ICE audit preparedness. The presentation also explored the various types of exposure created by the current Administration’s emphasis on “America First” initiatives, including increased scrutiny of foreign national hiring practices. Dawn and John were joined by Toyota Managing Counsel Rani Garcia, who shared how large organizations are grappling with this enhanced enforcement environment.

The Institute for Workplace Equality is a national nonprofit employer association based in Washington, DC. The organization trains and educates federal contractors on understanding and complying with their affirmative action and equal employment opportunity obligations, while also addressing broader human resource management strategies.
