Seyfarth’s Dawn Lurie and Leon Rodriguez co-authored an article, “Expect Eyes On Electronic Devices At US Entry Points,” in Law360 on May 20. The Seyfarth attorneys discussed how, under US customs and international trade laws, border agents have the legal authority to inspect, search, or detain any person, luggage, or merchandise entering or leaving the country—including electronic devices like phones, tablets, and laptops.
