Seyfarth Shaw Corporate partner and member of the firm's Health Care Reform Team Deborah Gordon was featured in a Q&A for Law360 on June 15. Deb was asked to describe her most challenging case or deal, and she responded with the sale of a pharmaceutical company in which there was a sense of urgency and contained several moving parts and difficult issues, including state lawsuits regarding pharmaceutical pricing issues under Medicaid and U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigations.
Deb mentioned the extent of health insurance coverage provided to individuals as critical when asked about what aspects of her practice are in need of reform. She added that there are still fundamental issues regarding health care that need to be taken into consideration, and there still needs to be improved alignment between providers and payers. She also noted the need for improved outcomes in light of decreased reimbursement as something that is becoming more relevant as baby boomers age and demand increases.
Deb stressed the importance of keeping abreast of changing regulations, enforcement efforts and trends in order to allow attorneys to be creative and flexible when working with clients, adhering to a framework in compliance with the law.
