"Bringing in a New Board: Inheriting a Mess"

Dennis Greenstein was quoted in the February 2009 edition of The Cooperator - The Co-op & Condo Monthly in the article, "Bringing in a New Board: Inheriting a Mess." The article discussed the various issues associated with bringing on new board members who manage the affairs of a building or a community. According to Dennis, if the board is in the midst of litigation when new board members join the group, outgoing board members would have a greater obligation to convey information to new board members. New board members should be provided with copies of meeting minutes that are pertinent to work they will be doing on the board. Copies of papers related to any expected or ongoing litigation should also be provided to new members. Dennis explained that “Everybody has a fiduciary responsibility to perform those things that are in the best interest of the building.”
