Dennis Greenstein Quoted in the New York Times
“How Long Is a Tenant Entitled to Insider Price?”
Dennis Greenstein was quoted in the article, “How Long Is a Tenant Entitled to Insider Price?” published in the February 10, 2008 issue of the New York Times. The article examines an occurrence where an individual succeeded to her mother’s right as a rent stabilized tenant and is questioning her right to purchase the apartment at the insider price that was offered to her mother during the initial offering when the building went co-op in the early 1980’s.
Dennis notes that the General Business Law, which governs conversions, provides that tenants in occupancy at the time the offering plan to convert the building to a cooperative was accepted for filing have the exclusive right to purchase their apartments for a period of 90 days.
