Dennis Greenstein was quoted in the real estate Q & A column of The New York Times on Sunday, April 13, 2008. The letter writer wanted to know whether a condo board member who cannot attend a meeting may designate another unit owner or board member as his proxy, or if he loses his vote altogether. Dennis, who is co-chairman of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Condominiums and Cooperatives, answered that a board member’s rights cannot be delegated. He stated, “Therefore, an absent board member will lose his or her right to vote since a board member may not delegate that right—by proxy or otherwise—to any other person.”
