"Pro Bono: First Person: 'In America, There Is Justice'"
Eric Barton's article, "Pro Bono: First Person: 'In America, There Is Justice,'" was published in the October 5, 2009 issue of the Fulton County Daily Report. The article discusses Eric's active involvement with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF). According to Eric, on 40 Saturday mornings a year, the AVLF, working jointly with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, opens the downtown ALAS office for volunteer lawyers to meet with prescreened clients with a variety of legal needs. Eric notes that during the past four years, he has handled matters ranging from earnest money disputes to mold damage to repossessed vehicles. Eric adds, "No matter what the case, the appreciation expressed by every client has been remarkable." Eric describes one case he worked on to illustrate the tremendous work of the AVLF. Eric explains, "Without fail, for every AVLF case that I have handled, what I have taken away has always been far greater than what I contribute."
