Join Loren Gesinsky and Ala Salameh for a thought-provoking conversation about this moving documentary. Produced by Barack and Michelle Obama, Crip Camp pays homage to Camp Jened, a summer camp in upstate New York where kids with disabilities went to get fresh air, but inhaled a sense of freedom and camaraderie that sustained them and inspired them to change laws that held them back. Many campers changed the world in amazing ways! One camper became one of the most influential disability rights activists, Judith Heumann, and the subject of our book club pick, Being Heumann. Crip Camp is appropriate for families with older teens and is available on Netflix and free on YouTube.
